Updates!

I still can't believe it, this spirited away fanart got me a DD on Deviantart! Those who don't know, DD means daily deviation, pretty much means best picture of the day( I think) but it sure made me so happy. And messages kept flooding in, which is a good thing, I love it when people comment on my works, or send me some words of encouragement. I really appreciate them.

So, since then, I've got quite a few more new commission requests coming in, and also some new clients, which means more work YAY! I accepted them all and then realize wonder "what have I got myself into?!" at the moment I've got 12 projects to work on, and that means no sleep for me.

This Elf character painting is originally done for an eBook on "How to draw Fantasy Character", 15 of the most common fantasy character included, each will have written tutorials and step by step drawings. However, I do not agree with some terms in their contract, so I didn't sign it, and rejected the job. As much as want to work on them, I simply cannot sign that contract. It pretty much takes away all artist's right and there's even a chance to not get paid at all, or not have your name written as the artist/author. Many more terms in that contract that are so ridiculous, Jaan was saying that he was surprise such contract exist!

Anyhow, I still wanted to work on some tutorials for you guys, and free of charge. I want to share them. This painting is not finished, but due to busy schedule I don't think I will be able to finish it anytime soon. So when i get the chance, I will, and will also work on the step by step tutorial.

This is not finished either, same reason due to busy schedule, I can't finish it till in a few month time. It's Pans labyrinth fan art if you're wondering :)

Finally, this, My first painting completed with my new cintiq. Should've posted this up ages ago but I forgot I had a blog..>_<

Cheers guys, and have a nice day!

Mother

A very interesting commission, and because i has so much fun painting her, i added more to the background even though a plain background was requested >_<

Mother ©J Maree Burns - The character is half snake and half woman. Each Mask is one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Character description from :J Maree Burns's book
The serpent woman rolled her tongue in a series of clicks, the large thick branched tail having to loop over its self as it couldn’t fit inside my lounge room. The ink dripped off her face and fell into building puddles on the floor with soft fat splats, just as tipping bowl after bowl of porridge onto the one spot would sound. Her face was completely covered, but I could tell this beast was a woman by its curved figure, the breasts on its chest concealed behind snake scales.
Her elbows were bent upwards and holding the seven different masks above her head. The masks were made of heavy dark wood but the faces were not human. Lock inhaled, exhaled and then glanced at me, offering out his hand. The serpent flicked its tongue, amused by us.

Cool character isn;t it? I loved it.  However i did something real stupid- I resized it to save for web, and accidentally overwrite the Original large file... and i didnt realize it until I close down photoshop. da fuk right, and all i have now is the small file, so blur when I enlarge it. How can i be so careless, sigh.....
